Peekskill gets by Hayes and Jamesville DeWitt

Posted Saturday, December 29, 2007 by Lou Panzanaro
On Thursday, the devils slipped by Cardinal Hayes 59-55 after trailing by 13 in the 3rd quarter. A ferocious full court press and outstanding defensive play by Darien Thomas, Daquan Brickhouse and Karl Baker led the comeback and Elliot Watson and Mookie Jones provided the scoring with 16 and 19 respectively.
In a thriller last night vs. Jamesville DeWitt, the Devils again overcame a 7point 3rd quarter deficit by way of the press. Watts hit 2 key 3 point shots and made two foul shots to bring the devils back. Watson worked his magic in close to the basket and Thomas again demonstrated his value doing all the hard work defensively and on the boards. Jones was recording 15 rebounds. Tied at 60 with 35 seconds remaining, Daquan Brickhouse made a spectacular drive to the basket and elevated over 6'10" DeWitt center Nick Pascale to put the Devils up 62-60. Peekskill stopped Dewitt on their next possession with aggressive defense and Jones added one of two free throws to bring the final score to 63-60. Triche missed a 3 point attempt to tie at the buzzer.
